The Scar of David

...

Air-Land-Sea...Liver?
Remember when rap stars used to wear Mercedes-Benz hood ornaments on chains around their necks to symbolize wealth? I've done them one better - my Mercedes logo scar will be a permanent tattooed reminder of my life-saving liver transplant - retail cost close to $2 million probably - or 40 Mercedes - 1 for every doctor I saw at NYU.

Some 75 metal staples for the scar, but half will be removed in coming days, along with those on smaller incisions in the groin and under the left arm, which has been causing a "pins and needles" sensation. The dangling spaghetti strand or rubber band is a T-Tube line, which is now closed off, but through which doctors could quickly drain or add fluids.

In the pink...

As you can see I'm back in the pink instead of looking like a spray-painted golden Buddha.  I've dropped nearly 50 pounds to 165 pounds and aim to get back to my previous weight - similar  to Elvis in his heyday - of 185 pounds on a 6' 1'' frame. My arms and chest are skeletal and my butt has disappeared, but a healthy appetite will bring it all back. I'm shuffling along on swollen ankles, but every bit of exercise helps.

Right now, Hippie Kitten is winning the face fur contest, but my goatee is returning (whiter?) more and more each day.

The meds don't stop for the rest of my life - once a liver transplant patient - always a liver transplant patient. There are 11 prescriptions - a total of 32 pills each day - to prevent rejection, lung infection, throat infection, ulcers, etc.

Tasha

Tasha has managed to turn her butterfly wings into angel wings flitting around the house as a joybringer, with a "musical harmonica" instead of a harp.
